Is Jonah Winston the Next Great Quarterback for Florida State?

Florida State football has its sights set on a promising young prospect from Hoover High in Alabama. Jonah Winston, a 2026 prospect and younger brother of former Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston, has received a scholarship offer from the Seminoles.

Winston just completed his freshman season at Hoover, where he played multiple positions on offense including receiver, running back, and quarterback. Despite only logging eight attempts under center, he showed steady production in carrying and catching the ball, racking up 56 yards and two scores on the ground with 127 yards and a touchdown off 12 receptions.

Winston’s versatility and athleticism have not gone unnoticed, as he has also received offers from the Alabama Crimson Tide, Marshall Thundering Herd, Troy Trojans, and Texas A&M Aggies.

The younger Winston is working hard to establish his own name in athletics, but he acknowledges the influence of his older brother, who played football and baseball at Florida State before being drafted by the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Despite Jameis’ impressive accomplishments on the gridiron, Jonah believes he is the better athlete at this age. However, he recognizes that his older brother’s work ethic, smarts, passion, and dog mentality are qualities he can emulate to help him reach his full potential.

At Hoover, Jonah became the first freshman to ever start at quarterback on varsity at the school. His ability to play multiple positions on offense and his strong work ethic make him an exciting prospect for the future.

Florida State is no stranger to talented quarterbacks, with Jameis Winston leading the Seminoles to a national championship in 2013 and earning the Heisman Trophy that same year. The Seminoles will hope that the younger Winston can follow in his brother’s footsteps and bring success to the program.

Winston is still young and has plenty of time to develop his skills on the field. But with offers from some of the top programs in the country, it’s clear that he has the potential to be a star at the collegiate level.

It remains to be seen where Winston will ultimately end up, but his early success and promising potential make him a player to watch in the years to come.
