The Last Time Each SEC Team MISSED a Bowl Game

In the 2022 era, there is an audience that complains about too many bowl games. That there is the logic that too much football is just overwhelming. Imagine telling that to individual fan bases, players, coaching staff, and administrators. These bowl games provide 15 extra practices, revenue, help to recruit, and an awesome trip for players. It could be vital for a program to consistently make bowl games. I guarantee you no one in the UGA fanbase is complaining about bowl games when they are leading the nation in the most consecutive bowl appearances. So let’s take a look at the last time each SEC team missed a bowl game.

The Last Time Each SEC Team MISSED a Bowl Game

Alabama: 2003
Arkansas: 2020
Auburn: 2022
Florida: 2017
Georgia: 1996
Kentucky: 2015
LSU: 2020
Mississippi State: 2009
Missouri: 2020
Ole Miss: 2019
South Carolina: 2020
Tennessee: 2020
Texas A&M: 2022
Vanderbilt: 2022

Outside of Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi State, there has not been much consistency in making bowl games. (Granted Mississippi State won a bowl game while having a losing record during the COVID season). Everyone in the SEC is constantly chasing greatness and wanting to make that huge splash. Chasing greatness can sometimes get rid of consistency as it isn’t meeting elite standards. It’s wild that only three teams have a double-digit streak going on.
