The Yellow Jackets have brought in six transfers, all of whom are already grinding through offseason activities to mesh with their new team. Among the additions is tight end Josh Beetham from Michigan. Standing at 6-5 and weighing 242 pounds, Beetham appeared in 11 games for the Wolverines, mostly contributing on special teams. His journey started as a quarterback at Illinois before transitioning to tight end at Michigan. Now, Beetham aims to leverage his extensive collegiate experience to make an impact at Georgia Tech.
Jayden Davis, a defensive back from Cincinnati, joins the Yellow Jackets after playing in two games as a true freshman. Despite limited action, his high school accolades paint a picture of a standout. Davis was a top-50 prospect in Georgia, and his junior year stats at Collins Hill showcased his potential to anchor a secondary.
Thomas Gore brings a formidable interior presence from Miami. The defensive lineman played all 13 games last season, recording eight tackles and two sacks. Prior to his stint at Miami, Gore excelled at Georgia State, where he amassed 93 tackles across four seasons. His high school pedigree includes a state championship and first-team all-state honors.
Romello Height adds depth to the defensive line as well. The 6-3, 230-pound lineman from Southern California had a solid 2023 season with 21 tackles and four sacks. A former four-star recruit, Height’s versatility and high school performance, including a Georgia Class 2-A Defensive Player of the Year award, underscore his potential to be a difference-maker for Tech.
The defensive backfield also receives a boost from Zachary Tobe, previously of Illinois. Tobe participated in 10 games last year, making 25 tackles and breaking up five passes. His high school history as a four-year letterwinner and academic honor roll member exemplifies his well-rounded abilities on and off the field.
Rounding out the transfers is Jordan van den Berg, a powerful defensive lineman from Penn State. Van den Berg’s resume includes 28 appearances over three seasons, where he tallied multiple tackles for loss and sacks. Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, he has a unique background and aspirations for a future coaching career.
The collective experience and talent of these new additions position Georgia Tech well as they look forward to the upcoming season. Each player brings their own story and skillset to Atlanta, enhancing both the depth and quality of the roster.
