Week 5 Predictions

Top 25

(25) Boise State 45 Washington State 41

• This game has potential to be a shootout. I don’t see how Boise slows down WSU QB John Mateer and I don’t see how WSU slows down BSU RB Ashton Jeanty. The Broncos need this one to keep their CFP hopes alive and I believe they squeak out a close win.

Arkansas 24 (24) Texas A&M 21

• Apparently Conner Weigman is listed as QB1 again and if he plays over Marcel Reed I actually like the Razorbacks to get the upset. Taylen Green is a wildcard, he could play great and win you the game or play bad and cost you the game but to be honest the same can be said for Weigman. Give me the Razorbacks in a close one.

Baylor 24 (22) BYU 17

• This pick is solely based on a principle I have. An unranked team (Baylor) is the home favorite over a ranked team (BYU). In this scenario the unranked team covers the spread 70% of the time so I’ll take the Bears to win and cover.

Auburn 24 (21) Oklahoma 20

• The Sooners are benching Jackson Arnold for Michael Hawkins Jr. I believe the Sooners are the better team but breaking in a new QB in Jordan-Hare Stadium won’t be an easy task. The Public is hammering the Sooners with 76% of bets on OU -2 and I always like being different than the public so I’ll take Auburn in an upset.

(20) Oklahoma State 31 (23) KSU 28

• The Cowboys are 6 point underdogs in this one and maybe I’m missing something but I believe the spread should be more of a pick em. Last week Kansas State was blown out by BYU while Oklahoma State lost to Utah who was playing a backup QB. If the Cowboys can get Ollie Gordon II going I believe they have the secondary to shut down Avery Johnson. I hate to rely on Alan Bowman but the pokes WRs are elite. I see Oklahoma State winning this game straight up but I’ll also gladly take the +6 points ATS.

(18) Iowa State 23 Houston 14

• My formula loves UH +14 this week and the Public will be all over ISU after Houston got shutout by Cincinnati last week. I believe the Cyclones win but UH keeps it close.

(17) Clemson 38 Stanford 17

• I’ll admit it, maybe I wrote off Clemson too early after that blowout loss to Georgia. Cade Klubnik and the Tigers offense has been firing on all cylinders since that game and Clemson could definitely compete for the ACC Championship. Stanford has been surprisingly good to start the season and they have one of the top WRs in CFB in Elic Ayomanor who cause the Tigers some fits. I like Clemson to win this game but Stanford should cover +22.

(15) Louisville 24 (16) Notre Dame 21

• Riley Leonard has been getting it done running the ball lately but I don’t trust him to carve a defense up through the air. I believe Louisville with a healthy Tyler Shough is a very dangerous team and it’ll be interesting to see what he can do vs an elite Irish Secondary. I’m going with the upset in this one, give me the Cards by a Field Goal.

(14) LSU 35 South Alabama 28

• South Alabama impressed me last week vs Appalachian State and Freshman RB Fluff Bothwell, Sophomore QB Gio Lopez and outstanding WRs Pritchett & Voisin are going to give this LSU defense who’s now without Harold Perkins Jr some major problems. I believe LSU gets the win because of Garrett Nussmeier but this could be closer than the 22 point spread.

(13) USC 38 Wisconsin 14

• I fully expect Miller Moss and the Trojans to bounce back this week vs a Badgers team who lost QB Tyler Van Dyke for the season. I’ll take the Trojans to win BIG!!!!!

(12) Michigan 27 Minnesota 7

• I fully expect Michigan to continue to ground and pound and play great defense, therefore I see a low scoring game and Michigan getting another Win.

(10) Utah 31 Arizona 17

• If Cam Rising plays I fully expect the Utes to win this game, even if he doesn’t play I still expect the Utes to win the game. Arizona has an excellent QB and WR but overall the Utes are much better and really good on the D-Line.

(9) Penn State 34 (19) Illinois 13

• Illinois has been fantastic so far this season with wins over Kansas and Nebraska but PSU is a completely different animal. The Illini have been living off of forcing turnovers and I believe they’ll struggle to do that vs Drew Allar and the Nittany Lions. Anytime someone sees a ranked team getting 17 points vs another ranked team they jump on the team getting the points which is Illinois who’s currently getting 87% of bets. I expect PSU to win and cover the big spread.

(8) Oregon 45 UCLA 14

• Last week UCLA actually put up a fight early on vs LSU but let’s be honest, the Bruins aren’t a good football team. I expect Dillon Gabriel and the Ducks to win big.

(7) Miami 38 Virginia Tech 20

• I watched Rutgers run the same play last week vs Virginia Tech six times and the Hokies Defense made zero adjustments. Kyron Drones has looked rattled and has missed tons of throws and the O-Line is atrocious. The bright spots for VT are a good Kicker & Punter, an elite pass rusher in Antwaun Powell-Ryland, good CBs and an outstanding RB in Bhayshul Tuten. Cam Ward, Tyler Baron, Xavier Restrepo and the Canes RBs should all have big games and I expect Miami to win by three scores or more.

(6) Ole Miss 42 Kentucky 21

• I picked the Rebels to make the CFP and I don’t see a team like Kentucky getting in the way. I know the Wildcats almost upset Georgia but this Rebels offense is better with more playmakers and I expect them to score easily and win big.

(4) Alabama 27 (2) Georgia 24

• This is the marquee matchup of the week and one I’m super excited to watch. Jalen Milroe is capable of creating tons of problems with his legs and I see some major cracks in the Dawgs Offense at the moment. I’ll gladly take the Crimson Tide +2.5 but I believe they also win straight up.

(3) Ohio State 42 Michigan State 10

• Aidan Chiles has a lot of upside but he’s turnover prone and this matchup will cause him tons of problems. The Buckeyes win big and cover ATS.

(1) Texas 49 Mississippi State 10

• It’s doesn’t matter who starts at QB for the Longhorns because Mississippi State is by far the worst team in the SEC. This will be a blowout with backups getting plenty of action.
