(25) Iowa 31 Illinois State 7
• Iowa will have a spectacular defense once again this season and I expect them to win a lot of lower scoring games. I still don’t trust the Hawkeyes Offense, at least until I see something from them but they’ll do enough in this game and don’t be surprised to see a Defensive TD from Iowa. Illinois State is actually a Top 20 FCS team this season but they’ll struggle to move the ball in this game.
(24) NC State 49 Western Carolina 10
• Grayson McCall and the Wolfpack Offense will roll in this one, I’m interested to see Noah Rogers at WR and UConn Transfer TE Justin Joly in action.
(23) USC 35 (13) LSU 31
• My formula likes USC and I’m taking the Trojans to surprisingly win outright in this one. This is a scary pick because of how bad the Trojans Defense is and the fact that Caleb Williams is gone. On the other hand LSU also loses their QB, top two WRs and the Defense was extremely bad last season. This game consists of two QBs I have on breakout watch in 2024 with Garrett Nussmeier and Miller Moss. I believe most people will be on LSU in this one but I wouldn’t be surprised if Miller Moss puts on a show and USC gets the mild upset.
(22) Kansas 56 Lindenwood 8
• Lindenwood is entering their third year in the FCS after making the leap from DII and they’re no match for Kansas. I expect the Jayhawks to win BIG in this one.
(21) Arizona 48 New Mexico 14
• I had Montana State winning last week vs New Mexico and my expectations weren’t too high for the Lobos but they actually showed me a lot of potential. Sophomore QB Devon Dampier gives the Lobos a spark on Offense and WR Luke Wysong is a reliable receiver. My problem with UNM is the Defense and the Wildcats come in with a Top 5 QB in Noah Fifita and top WR in CFB in Tetairoa McMillan. I expect Arizona to score at will in this game and win big.
(20) Texas A&M 20 (7) Notre Dame 16
• I’ll be honest I’m torn on this game but since it’s at Kyle Field with 102,000+ fans screaming and hollering I believe this gives the Aggies a slight advantage. Notre Dame starting LT Charles Jagusah is also out for the season and for a young O-Line to come into Kyle Field and play in a hostile environment vs a pass rusher like Nic Scourton is going to be a major challenge. The Irish have advantages at TE, DT and especially in the secondary as Benjamin Morrison, Xavier Watts & Christan Gray will give Conner Weigman fits. I see this being a lower scoring game that the Aggies win late in Mike Elkos debut.
(19) Miami 27 Florida 23
• WHAT A MATCHUP for Week 1, a hated rivalry where the loser basically crumbles with a loss of hope and a loss of confidence in their Head Coach. As most of you know already I have Miami winning the ACC and making the CFP. I absolutely love the portal addition of QB Cam Ward and believe he sets this team apart from most of their 2024 opponents. I expect the canes rushing attack to be excellent this season as well with Damien Martinez & Mark Fletcher Jr leading the way. Xavier Restrepo is back at WR and Elijah Arroyo is a breakout TE to watch for. Defensively I really like the canes DL and believe they’ll produce a lot of pressure. Graham Mertz actually exceeded my expectations last season and played well for the Gators. Florida has some talented receivers and Transfer Chimere Dike already has some established chemistry with Mertz. Defensively I believe the Gators will be solid but for them to win the game they need to force turnovers in my opinion and if they can they could potentially win a close game here.
(18) Kansas State 45 Tennessee Tech 10
• The Avery Johnson era at QB begins and I’m expecting the Wildcats to win BIG.
(17) Oklahoma State 31 South Dakota State 20
• South Dakota State is the top team in the FCS and you can NEVER overlook the Jackrabbits but Oklahoma State is potentially the best team in the Big 12 and the Cowboys return TONS of production including the number one RB in CFB in Ollie Gordon II. I know South Dakota State +10 will be a popular pick ATS but the Cowboys have too much at OL, WR, DL, DB & RB for the Jackrabbits to pull the upset.
(16) Oklahoma 49 Temple 3
• I believe Temple will be really bad this season and the Jackson Arnold era will get started with a blowout W, Take the Sooners -43!!!!
(15) Tennessee 49 UT Chattanooga 14
• The Vols will 100% win this game BUT the Mocs are actually a really good FCS team ranked in the Top 10 so this will be a really good warmup game for Nico Iamaleava and Tennessee.
(12) Utah 45 Southern Utah 10
• Southern Utah is usually a pretty competitive FCS team but they’ll be no match for the Utes and Cam Rising.
(11) Missouri 49 Murray State 6
• Missouri is a team I have making it to the CFP and Murray State will be no match for Brady Cook, Luther Burden III and the Tigers.
(10) Florida State 34 Boston College 14
• The casuals see Boston College +17 after FSU just lost to Georgia Tech and they’ve jumped all over it. Unfortunately for the casuals BC isn’t near as good as GT and FSU will have a nice bounce back win at home.
(9) Michigan 27 Fresno State 13
• I have no idea what to expect from Michigan at QB but I know for certain the Defense will be one of the best in CFB. On offense RB Donovan Edwards and TE Colston Loveland are among the best at their positions but the WRs are weak in my opinion and it’s question marks at QB. Fresno State has a solid returning QB in Mikey Keene, RB Malik Sherrod, WRs Mac Dalena & Jalen Moss and a solid defense returning. I think Michigan wins this game but I like the Bulldogs to cover +21.5
(8) Penn State 27 West Virginia 24
• I’m high on the Mountaineers this season and have them in the Big 12 Championship game but the Nittany Lions will give them a lot of fits in this matchup. PSU has the pass rushers and overall talent on Defense to slow down this Mountaineers Offense and if they can force Garrett Greene to beat them through the air then the Nittany Lions will have WVU right where they want them. If WVU is going to pull off this upset I believe they need to control the clock and establish a run game. The crowd noise will be in favor of WVU and they need to feed off of that. Overall I believe this game is close until the end but I like PSU to secure the win.
(6) Ole Miss 49 Furman 17
• Furman is actually a really solid FCS team and they could score some points vs the Rebels. I expect Ole Miss to win this game BIG but wouldn’t be surprised if Furman gets a backdoor cover.
(5) Alabama 41 Western Kentucky 14
• The Kalen DeBoer era kicks off in Tuscaloosa as they welcome a scrappy WKU Hilltoppers team to Bryant-Denny Stadium. WKU has a solid QB in TJ Finley who transfers in from Texas State after originally playing in the SEC for Auburn and LSU. The Tide return QB Jalen Milroe and he’s a Darkhorse Heisman Candidate. Alabama has the talent edge by a wide margin in this game and while WKU is a respectable G5 team they’ll get bludgeoned by the Crimson Tide in this one.
(4) Texas 49 Colorado State 14
• Colorado State returns QB Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi and elite WR Tory Horton. They have a respectable passing attack and could score some points vs the Longhorns but the Defense will have a hard hard time stopping Quinn Ewers and company. I expect a BIG game from Jaydon Blue and the rushing attack as the O-Line has the Rams D-Line outmatched.
(3) Oregon 52 Idaho 13
• This is another game where the FCS team is a respectable Top 25 team as Idaho actually ranks 7th but the FBS team is WAY TOO OVERPOWERING. The Ducks have an offense that Idaho can’t stop and a Defense that will give the Vandals fits. I expect the Ducks to win this game big vs a solid Idaho team.

• Ohio State will dominate the Zips in this game but Akron gets a late FG to cover the 50 point spread.
(1) Georgia 24 (14) Clemson 14
• Dabo refusing to actually use and benefit from the Transfer Portal will start catching up with him in big games like this one and it’s ultimately why he will never win another Natty at Clemson. Georgia lost a lot of production from last season but like I mentioned, the Dawgs actually use the portal to fill voids. TE Ben Yurosek, WR London Humphreys and RB Trevor Etienne are a few who will step in and provide production immediately. UGA has a wide advantage at QB also with Carson Beck and if Clemson hopes to stay in this game they’ll need Cade Klubnik to step up and play much better than he has.
