The University of Washington football recruiters have extended an offer to Karson Cox, a running back from Oak Hills High School in Hesperia, California. Cox, standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing 195 pounds, fits the mold of a DeBoer/Grubb offense player, possessing all the necessary attributes to succeed at the collegiate level.
Hesperia, where Oak Hills High School is located, is situated in the High Desert, an area where the Huskies have had success in finding talent in the past. The UW football program recruited wide receiver Keith Reynolds from neighboring Adelanto and snagged wide receiver Marcel Reece from Hesperia. Reece still holds the school record for the longest scoring play from scrimmage at 98 yards.
Cox, a Class of 2025 recruit, is coming off a fantastic sophomore season for Oak Hills, where he helped lead the team to a playoff appearance. He has offers from Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, UNLV, Washington State, and Western Michigan, but the Huskies are hoping to lure him to Seattle.
Cox’s playing style draws comparisons to current Huskies running back Cameron Davis with his deceptively fast footwork and love for the physicality of the game. Last season, Cox rushed for 1,215 yards and 18 touchdowns and caught six passes for 150 yards and two more scores.
The Huskies are hoping to add Cox to their stable of impressive running backs and continue their recruiting success in California. With offers already on the table from several schools, it remains to be seen where Cox will land, but the UW football program is hopeful that they can add him to their Class of 2025 recruiting class.
