We asked Naef Yusuf some questions to learn more about him.

If you had to compare yourself to one NBA/college player, who would it be and why?

I would compare myself to Jalen Green. I can drive to the basket, shoot from the paint or hit a 3-point shot, and I can jump like Jalen.

How did you stay motivated after losing a game?

I try to think about the next game and what I can do better. When I am at the gym, I work on those things.

Do you have any rituals that you must perform before a game and why?

I like to listen to Polo G and Lil Baby. Music gets me hyped up before a game.

How do you channel your frustration when the referee’s decision doesn’t go your way?

I let my coach deal with the referees. I have to continue to play my game.

What moment in your playing career were you most proud of yourself?

I was most proud of myself when I made my first dunk in a game! One of my old coaches told me that it’s not a real dunk until it’s in a game.

What aspect of your game comes easiest to you?

Shooting and making plays for my teammates comes easy.

What aspect of your game is the most difficult for you to master?

Being more physical during games is something I am working on.

Between now and your high school career, what is your main goal?

My goal is to continue to get better.

What advice has the coach given you that you’ll always remember?

Coach Alex Spielman told me, “with hard work and passion you can do anything.”

What are some of your hobbies besides basketball?

Nothing really; I’m in the gym all day.

Do you have any 5-year goals as of right now?

I want to to win a state championship, be a McDonald’s All-American and earn a scholarship.

What is your favorite position to play on the court?

My favorite position to play is wing.

What is your favorite meal?

My favorite meal is steak, mashed potatoes, and broccoli.

Do you have a favorite brand of shoes to wear when playing basketball?

Kobe (Bryant)’s.
