The Last Time Each ACC Team MISSED a Bowl Game

In the 2022 era, there is an audience that complains about too many bowl games. That there is logic that too much football is just overwhelming. Imagine telling that to individual fan bases, players, coaching staff, and administrators. These bowl games provide 15 extra practices, revenue, help to recruit, and an awesome trip for players. It could be vital for a program to consistently make bowl games. I guarantee you no one in the FSU fanbase was complaining about bowl games when they went for a record 26 consecutive times. So let’s take a look at the last time each ACC team missed a bowl game.

The Last Time Each ACC Team MISSED a Bowl Game

  • Boston College 2022 (last appeared in a bowl game in 2019)
  • Clemson 2004 (18 Consecutive Bowl Game Appearances)
  • Duke 2018 (missed three consecutive seasons worth of bowl games)
  • Florida State 2019 (missed two consecutive seasons worth of bowl games)
  • Georgia Tech 2022 (last appeared in a bowl game in 2018)
  • Louisville 2020 (Second consecutive Bowl Game Appearance)
  • Miami 2022 (Last appeared in a bowl game in 2020)
  • North Carolina 2018 (4 Consecutive Bowl Game Appearances)
  • North Carolina State 2021/2019 (Missed last season due to UCLA dropping out)
  • Pittsburgh 2020 (opted out during the COVID season)
  • Syracuse 2021 (missed three consecutive seasons worth of bowl games)
  • Virginia 2022 (missed three consecutive seasons worth of bowl games)
  • Virginia Tech 2021
  • Wake Forest 2017 (7 Consecutive Bowl Game Appearances)

It is crazy to think that the beacon of consistency for the Atlantic Coast Conference is Clemson and Wake Forest. Did you know that Wake Forest was given a degrading nickname by conference foes? Opposing fanbases used to call the Weak Forest. Well, they cannot be called Weak anymore as they are not only the most consistent team in the state but also one in the conference. Florida State appears to be gaining its stride back under third-year head coach Mike Norvell. The big question for the ACC is which other teams will join back in with the consistency of Clemson and Wake Forest?
