Entering the last week of the college football season, many Sun Belt teams have bowl games on their mind. The players get the sweet swag presents from the bowl games, the conference gets a little pay out money, and it’s just an overall time to get better. As it sits today there are five Sun Belts teams who will be looking to accept bowl bids. Next week will determine if Louisiana, Georgia Southern, Southern Miss can join the other five as they all three sit at 5-6. I do not think Georgia Southern will make it to six wins, but the other two should. Our Sun Belt Bowl Predictions will just be focusing on the five currently available until the other three official make it to eligibility. Of course let’s remember that James Madison who is sitting at 7-3 is not eligible this season.
Sun Belt Bowl Predictions
Cure Bowl: Marshall vs. Ohio
R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl: Troy vs. UTSA
Camellia Bowl: South Alabama vs Toledo
Boca Raton Bowl: Coastal Carolina vs Middle Tennessee State
Lending Tree Bowl: Appalachian State vs UAB
I do expect after this week more Sun Belt teams will join the list. Sun Belt fans need to remember that three of the five bowl games are owned by ESPN. It seems like the Cure Bowl has loved having Coastal Carolina as they have selected them the past two season but in 2022 I think they move on. South Alabama has the Lending Tree Bowl right in their own city but that bowl game picks fifth, and I do not think the Jaguars will still be on the board.
Sun Belt Bowl Tie In Selection Process
The Sun Belt receives five bowl slots available exclusively to their teams. If there is an overflow past five there are relationships with the New Mexico Bowl and Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. Here is the selection process.
Pick #1: One of the ESPN Owned Bowl Games (Cure, Camellia, and Boca Raton)
Pick #2: The New Orleans Bowl
Pick #3: One of the ESPN Owned Bowl Games (Cure, Camellia, and Boca Raton)
Pick #4: One of the ESPN Owned Bowl Games (Cure, Camellia, and Boca Raton)
Pick #5: The Lending Tree Bowl
