The recruiting outlook for SMU just got a little brighter. Ka’Davion Dotson-Walker, a talented four-star safety from Duncanville, Texas, committed to the Mustangs earlier today. This announcement adds to an already prosperous recruiting summer season for SMU.
In recruiting, relationships make all the difference. And this proved true for Dotson-Walker, who had great relationships with many of the coaches, primarily Cornerbacks Coach Rickey Hunley. The coaching staff’s embracing of Dallas seemed to played a significant role in Dotson-Walker’s decision, too.
SMU’s commitment to prioritizing local talent for program growth in an already talent rich area, both through high school recruits and transfer portal selections, speaks to what this program could look like at its peak if more players the caliber of Dotson-Walker decide to come to SMU.
SMU’s newest commitment reaffirms this potential, as Dotson-Walker was also being heavily recruited by some heavy hitters like LSU and Texas, among others. Undoubtedly, having one of the state’s top safety prospects on their side significantly bolsters SMU’s defensive prowess and recruiting clout.
Dotson-Walker becomes the seventh recruit committed to SMU’s slightly leaner, more selective 2024 class. He joins an already promising group that includes some studs like Tyler Aronson, Jamyri Cauley, Zach Smith, Alexander Rodgers, Graham Uter, and King Large.
