The title speaks for itself.

Go to any college football database website and you’ll see that Vanderbilt does not have a winning record against any SEC team. Although this is a cold hard fact in the spring of 2022, this could rapidly change depending on a few things.

On one side, the Commodores could get over on a SEC West counterpart by the time 2023 rolls around. On the other hand, conference realignment will change this.

Vanderbilt all time is 21-21-1 vs. Auburn

The Commodores absolutely dominated this series in the 1930’s, 40’s and 50’s, winning nine out of 10 games over that time span. Even recently, Vanderbilt has won two of the last three. This has been an embarrassing fact that haunts Auburn fans, and it could even get worse.

In 2023, the two will play for the first time since 2016. Perhaps by then, head coach Clark Lea will have Vanderbilt as a formidable foe. Auburn fans DO NOT want to be the only SEC fan base with a losing record to Vanderbilt.

Vanderbilt all-time is 8-3-1 vs. Texas

The two programs have not played since 1928, but a fact is just simply a fact. Texas and Oklahoma have plans to join the SEC no later than 2025, but it could be sooner. If Vanderbilt cannot take care of business vs. Auburn in 2023, this will be its only hope to have a winning record over another current SEC program.

The Commodores will even start with a five-game buffer. Regardless of what happens in 2023, Texas’ entry into the conference will allow Auburn fans to breathe a sigh of relief.
