From upsets to top-25 beatdowns, everything was on display in Week 5.
In the SEC, three top-15 teams went down. Here is how everything shakes out in our SEC power rankings headed into Week 6:
1. Alabama
Previous Ranking: 1
Many thought Ole Miss would challenge Alabama. Some even thought the Rebels had a shot at an upset. They were wrong.
Instead, the Crimson Tide went up 35-0 in the third quarter during a 42-21 victory.
The defending national champions have not stopped rolling. With 19 straight victories, the Tide are not going anywhere until someone proves they can beat them.
2. Georgia
Previous Ranking: 2
This is really like 1A and 1B between Alabama and Georgia.
The Bulldogs put the nation on alert by shutting out No. 8 Arkansas, 37-0. They did it without starting quarterback JT Daniels.
Georgia is rolling as it prepares for its first true road test at Auburn.
3. Arkansas
Previous Ranking: 3
Arkansas did not show up the way it hoped for against Georgia, but there is still plenty to be excited about.
You may hear how overrated Arkansas is in the coming days, but ignore it. Georgia is truly an elite program.
There will be no time for a break as Arkansas travels to Oxford to take on Ole Miss.
4. Ole Miss
Previous Ranking: 4
Like Arkansas, the Rebels did not show up against top-ranked Alabama.
They struggled to produce virtually any offense before the fourth quarter, and let Alabama run all over them.
It should be a humbling experience for the Rebels, but they are still very dangerous if quarterback Matt Corral can stay healthy.
5. Auburn
Previous Ranking: 7
Auburn rises two spots after beating LSU in Baton Rouge for the first time this century, 24-19.
Bo Nix made unbelievable plays all night in order to solidify his role as the starting quarterback.
Auburn has a date with Georgia this week. The Tigers better bring their A-game.
6. Kentucky
Previous Ranking: 8
Kentucky rises into the top six after pulling off a top-10 upset over Florida, 20-13.
The Wildcats have been up and down all season, but a top-10 win against the reigning SEC East champions should give them some much-needed momentum.
Kentucky will host a struggling LSU team this Saturday at Kroger Field.
7. Florida
Previous Ranking: 5
Florida had momentum coming into this week, but did not show up against Kentucky.
Florida was able to move the ball, but just could not put it in the end zone. 15 penalties for 115 yards certainly did not help matters.
Expect Florida to rebound this week as the Gators host Vanderbilt.
8. Tennessee
Previous Ranking: 11
Tennessee is the biggest riser of the season after blowing out Missouri on the road, 62-24.
The Volunteers lit up the Mizzou defense for 683 yards and 62 points.
If Tennessee can find some consistency on the defensive side of the ball, it is a team to watch over the final half of the season.
9. Mississippi State
Previous Ranking: 12
The Bulldogs also rise up three spots this week. This time, they upset a top 25 team on the road in Texas A&M, 26-22.
It has not always looked pretty, but Mississippi State is improving each week and now has a winning record.
The Bulldogs get a much-needed bye week before the Crimson Tide comes to Starkville on Oct. 16.
10. Texas A&M
Previous Ranking: 6
The Aggies plummet this week after suffering their second straight loss.
Texas A&M has struggled to get any offense going with Zach Calzada behind center, and that was again the case again on Saturday.
The Aggies are having arguably the most disappointing season in the country. Unfortunately for them, they’ll have to beat Alabama this week to avoid falling to 3-3 overall.
11. LSU
Previous Ranking: 9
More questions are being raised about head coach Ed Orgeron as LSU suffered its first loss to Auburn in Baton Rouge in more than 20 years.
LSU was outcoached and had no answers for what Auburn was bringing its way. Despite twice having a 2-score lead, LSU gave up a touchdown in the final minutes to secure a loss.
With a loss against Kentucky this Saturday, things would become very awkward for Orgeron.
12. South Carolina
Previous Ranking: 13
The Gamecocks only scored one offensive touchdown against Troy, but their defense and special teams were able to bail them out for a 23-14 win over the Trojans.
South Carolina will travel to Knoxville to take on the high-flying Volunteer offense this Saturday.
13. Missouri
Previous Ranking: 10
Missouri falls to 2-3 after getting thrashed at home by Tennessee. Entering the contest, Missouri was considered the favorite.
So far, head coach Eliah Drinkwitz’s team looks lost.
Missouri will have the opportunity to bounce back this week as it hosts 1-3 North Texas.
14. Vanderbilt
Previous Ranking: 14
Vanderbilt got back in the win column against Connecticut, but the worst team in FBS football had the lead on the Commodores with just three seconds left.
Former Alabama kicker Joseph Buvolas knocked through his second game-winning field goal of the year against the Huskies as Vandy survived, 30-28.
