With the regular season in the books, and falling just short of a bowl game, Florida State fans can focus on recruiting. There are two major areas of need – offensive line, particularly tackles, and linebacker. FSU desperately needs to bring in 4+ new offensive lineman. Today’s focus is on the big uglies along the offensive line. While offensive linemen typically take a while to develop, there is one on this list that could start against Boise State. So let’s break down the 2019 offensive line targets.
- Arizona Western College (JUCO)
- Current Commitment: Nebraska
- 6-4, 285 lbs
A large offensive guard, with great feet and aggressive finishing skills, is scheduled to visit Florida State on December 7th. Bland has been committed to Nebraska since this summer. Florida State has turned up the heat on him, and it will be interesting to see what news comes out that weekend.
- IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL)
- Current Commitment: n/a
- 6-7.5, 360 lbs
If you thought Bland was big, this guy is massive. Evan Neal is one of the can’t-miss prospects in the 2019 recruiting class. Right now, it seems to be a three-team race for his commitment between FSU, Miami, and Alabama. The 247 Crystal Ball has him heavily leaning towards Alabama, but he could be a day one starter at Florida State. It will be interesting to see if the pitch of immediate playing time will be enough to sway him from the Crimson Tide. FSU has no offensive tackles in this recruiting class, and Neal would be the golden goose.
- Plant High School (Tampa, FL)
- Current Commitment: n/a
- 6-4, 280 lbs
Similar to Neal, Florida State is involved in a three-team race for the services of Will Putnam along with Clemson and Auburn. Florida State has already had an in-home visit with Will, as has Auburn. 247 expert Josh Newberg has him swaying towards the Noles, but I would not count Auburn out. The good news for Florida State is that there is no coaching uncertainty for Taggart like there is with Gus Malzahn. I think Florida State edges out Clemson, strictly due to playing time. Also note that Will Putnam likes the idea of playing center.

- Baton Rouge, LA
- Current Commitment: LSU
- 6-3, 356 lbs
There has been some chatter in the Fifth Quarter group chat of the possibility of flipping Kardell. One of the hardest things for a program to do is to go into LSU’s backyard and steal a recruit. This past summer, he noted that FSU was the only place that could havematched LSU. The offensive guard is nasty and mean – and who doesn’t like a lineman with a mean streak? Whichever school he chooses, he will probably not start due to the need to lose some bad weight.
We offered this three star prospect out of Canton, GA. He’s aggressive, mean and we need him.
Committed: Dontae Lucas
In the mix: Charles Cross, Charles Turner, Dawand Jones, Jay Williams
