When FSU’s on Offense
There is nothing new under the sun. We still have the same statue of a quarterback, with the same O-Line problems. There’s your bad news. Good news? Florida’s defense, while ranking well above average, isn’t particularly great at any one thing. Florida plays down hill every single down, and has a knack of giving up explosive plays. With Terry being a vertical threat, and young receivers being dangerous in space, it might be worth keeping count of 15+ yard plays FSU gets.
When FSU’s on Defense
While there is still a lot of unhappiness with Florida quarterback Feliepe Franks in Gainesville, do not let that fool you. 2018 Franks is light years better than 2017 Franks, where he can at least give the Gator offense production. With that said he is still highly inaccurate in the passing game, and still makes bad decisions. This should play right into Florida State’s hands, as they love to play man coverage, or Tampa Cover 2.
If they can match the effort of last week, where the whole defense had pursuit on the ball they will be fine. Everything needs to be kept in front of them, and there needs to be a lot of gang tackling. Like other Mullen coached quarterbacks, Franks will have a lot of designed runs, so hits on him need to count.
This will be one of the biggest home crowds the Noles have had all year with the struggling season. With the mediocre season there is a lot to play for tomorrow, and I have a feeling the fans will show up. The home advantage is something the Seminoles haven’t really had since Labor Day. The Gators also have not played a daunting road game since September, and that was in front of a deflated Volunteer crowd.
John: UF 21 FSU 16 – Florida State has had a difficult time of settling for field goals and not finishing drives. The defense plays well, but not finishing will close the bowl streak for the Seminoles.
Cory: FSU 24 UF 3 – FSU hits enough shot plays, and the defense plays with the intensity and skill we saw last week. UF has ZERO chance.
Let us know in the comments – will FSU pull of their second straight upset? Can they defeat Florida for the 6th straight season? Can the Seminoles continue the bowl streak?
