Men’s Basketball: FSU-Tulane 7 PM EST

by | Nov 11, 2018 | Basketball, Previews

After defeating the Florida Gators 81-60, the Seminoles move on to their next opponent. The Noles are in New Orleans, Louisiana to take on the Tulane Green Wave. This is the season opener for Tulane, welcoming a Top 20 opponent. The two used to be in the same conference for basketball in the Metro Conference, and played every season from 1977-1985. The Seminoles lead the series between the two clubs 24-12.

The team is lead by forward Samir Sehic, a 6-9 junior from Cypress, Texas. Sophomore guard Caleb Daniels, a local guy from New Orleans, teams up with Sehic for the Green Wave.

For the ‘Noles, look for PJ Savoy to continue his hot shooting after a 21-point effort against UF. Also keep an eye on Trent Forrest – the ‘Noles will go as Forrest goes. The point guard had a 5:2 Assist to Turnover Ratio and was perfect from the charity stripe while scoring 13 against the Lizards. 3 ‘Noles scored in double digits against UF, a very balanced attack.

Hamilton does like to run a deep roster before ACC play starts, so watch for some of the young guys, like Devin Vassell and RaiQuan Davis, to get some burn against the Green Wave.

Notes:

  • This will be the first (and only) true road test for the ‘Noles, as all other non-conference games will be at home, with the exception of 5 matchups at neutral sites.
  • Tulane is returning a visit to Tampa’s Amelie Arena last year, a game the ‘Noles won 72-53.
  • FSU is favored by 14.5 points on the road.
