It has been 34 long years since Notre Dame fans have seen their beloved Irish end the college football season on top. Regardless of the national championship drought whether you hate them or love them, you will end up talking about Notre Dame. While the 2022 season didn’t start the way Irish fans wanted it to, it sure did end with a bang. The beginnings of the Marcus Freeman era should show that the Irish can beat anyone. It has now been six straight years of the Irish winning 9+ games, and anything less than that in 2023 would be a huge disappointment. So let’s take a miniature look at the 2023 schedule for the Irish.
Notre Dame Football Schedule

Diversity of a Schedule
The average college football fan HATES that Notre Dame is not in a conference. But, where else can you get a schedule that is as diverse as this one? The Irish play a blueblood, a miniature ACC Schedule, an HBCU, an international game, and multiple historic rivalry games. An average college football fan dreams of a schedule like this.
Just Win 2 out of 3
Obviously, the three glaring games on the schedule are Clemson, USC, and Ohio State. We have already seen a one-loss Notre Dame fan make the playoff. Whether the average fan likes it or not, if the Irish go just one loss this year they will be fine. Obviously, the goal is perfection but if you go 2 of 3 against these teams, with no other slipups, you deserve the playoffs.
4-0 is mandatory before Ohio State
Notre Dame has beaten Navy nine out of the last ten times. The Irish have never played an FCS team, and I doubt they lose their first game against Tennessee State. Just putting this out there North Carolina State has only one 10+ winning season, so they are not bringing anything elite to the table. In week four Notre Dame plays Central Michigan from the MAC. If they win that game that puts the Irish at 10-0 vs. MAC teams all time.
