After the first week of free agency, NFL fans are buzzing about which teams made the best moves to improve their roster. Here is a breakdown of how all 32 teams stack up in our power rankings.
1. Kansas City Chiefs
The reigning Super Bowl champions came out of the gate swinging and hit two of their biggest needs by signing offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor and pass-rusher Charles Omenihu. The addition of Odell Beckham Jr. would make them even more dangerous.
2. Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles didn’t have enough cap room to re-sign all of their starters, but bringing back Jason Kelce, James Bradberry, Darius Slay, Fletcher Cox, and Brandon Graham should keep them competitive. Rashaad Penny will replace Miles Sanders in the backfield.
3. Cincinnati Bengals
Orlando Brown and Germaine Pratt filled major needs for the Bengals. Even though they lost several starters, this team is still very competitive.
4. San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers improved their defense by signing Javon Hargrave to play alongside Nick Bosa. They also signed quarterback Sam Darnold to improve their depth chart.
5. Buffalo Bills
The Bills didn’t make any major moves, but they still have a strong roster that will keep them in Super Bowl contention.
6. Miami Dolphins
Adding coordinator Vic Fangio makes Miami’s defense stronger. The Dolphins also landed cornerback Jalen Ramsey and signed linebacker David Long and safety DeShon Elliott.
7. Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys had an eventful week, releasing Ezekiel Elliott, re-signing Leighton Vander Esch, and trading for Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore and Brandin Cooks. Gilmore and Diggs make a top-tier cornerback tandem.
8. Los Angeles Chargers
The loss of Austin Ekeler could hurt the Chargers, who granted him permission to seek a trade. However, L.A. bolstered their defense by adding Dre’Mont Jones and Jarran Reed.
9. New York Jets
It’s only a matter of time before the Jets acquire Aaron Rodgers, bringing a top-five defense back into Super Bowl contention.
10. Minnesota Vikings
Signing edge rusher Marcus Davenport and corner Byron Murphy was a smart move, but the Vikings need to fix their defense.
11. Jacksonville Jaguars
Calvin Ridley’s return from suspension will give Trevor Lawrence another weapon to work with, but Jacksonville was relatively quiet in free agency.
12. Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks focused on defense in the first week of free agency by adding Dre’Mont Jones and Jarran Reed, considerably bolstering their line.
13. New York Giants
The Giants are trying to improve their offense by adding playmakers. Darren Waller and Parris Campbell could be game-changers if they stay healthy.
14. New Orleans Saints
The addition of Derek Carr to a team boasting a top-10 defense makes the Saints a contender for the division title.
15. Detroit Lions
The Lions bolstered their secondary with top free-agent safety Gardner-Johnson and veteran corners Cameron Sutton and Emmanuel Moseley, making them a team on the rise.
16. Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens didn’t make any high-profile acquisitions, and Lamar Jackson’s future remains unclear.
17. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers miss out on some blue-chip free-agent linebackers but signed Cole Holcomb and Elandon Roberts.
18. Washington Commanders
Sam Howell is set to start at quarterback, but Washington didn’t make any major moves in free agency.

Trading Aaron Rodgers to the Jets will start the Jordan Love era in Green Bay. The Packers need to improve their roster quickly.

The Titans are in a period of change, shopping Derrick Henry and renegotiating Kevin Byard’s contract.

The Buccaneers are moving on from Tom Brady and will rebuild with Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask.
