It wasn’t the showing that anyone had hoped for on Saturday. Florida State had two weeks to prepare for No. 2 Clemson, only to be routed, 45-14. The loss was the fifth straight for the Seminoles against the ACC Atlantic foe Tigers. The winner of the annual contest has won the ACC in each season since 2011. For all the bad from Saturday, the Fifth Quarter team of moderators have done their best with their game balls.

Handing out game balls this week to the Seminoles who stood out in each phase of the game are Mike Ferguson, John Cooper, Cory, Danielle Kelley, Rednollah, Garlic Wing Sauce and Fox15GTI.

Offense

Mike, John, Cory, Danielle, Rednollah and Fox15GTI: Khalan Laborn, RB
It wasn’t a day to remember for the guys in garnet and gold, but redshirt sophomore Khalan Laborn had the most productive afternoon of his career. The Virginia Beach native finished the afternoon with eight carries for a career-high 69 yards and one of FSU’s two touchdowns. Laborn’s score – the first of his career – came on a 40-yard run to cap the scoring with less than three minutes remaining in the contest.

Garlic Wing Sauce: Tamorrion Terry, WR
On a day where little went right, redshirt sophomore receiver Tamorrion Terry led the Seminoles in yards from scrimmage. Terry finished the day with two catches for 83 yards and a score. His 64-yard touchdown reception on a slant from Alex Hornibrook late in the third quarter broke up the shutout. Terry leads the Seminoles with 467 yards receiving and five touchdown grabs this year.

Defense

Mike, John, Cory and Rednollah: Janarius Robinson, DE
Don’t look now, but redshirt junior defensive end Janarius Robinson seems to be turning a corner since the loss of Josh Kaindoh. Despite missing the first half of Saturday’s contest as a result of a questionable targeting call, Robinson tallied six total tackles and all four of FSU’s tackles for loss. Robinson had a forced fumble in the loss as well.

Danielle: Marvin Wilson, DT
Junior defensive tackle Marvin Wilson showed tremendous leadership earlier this week in practice and has throughout the season. On Saturday, the Houston native finished with five tackles for the Seminoles and batted down a pass at the line of scrimmage.

Garlic Wing Sauce: Hamsah Nasirildeen, S
Saturday wasn’t a good one for the Florida State defense, but its leading tackler continued to make plays. Junior safety Hamsah Nasirildeen finished the day with six tackles and the only interception for the Seminoles. Nasirildeen leads FSU this season with 39 tackles and three forced fumbles. He’s also one of five Seminoles with an interception.

Special Teams

Mike, Danielle, and Rednollah: Parker Grothaus, K
Walk-on kicker Parker Grothaus didn’t make a major impact on Saturday, but he did do his job. Each of Grothaus’ first two kickoffs went for touchbacks before a failed onside kick later in the game.

Garlic Wing Sauce: Ricky Aguayo, K
After a rough couple of games, Ricky Aguayo scored two of FSU’s 12 points on Saturday. Aguayo was 2-for-2 on PATs on Saturday. For the season, Aguayo has yet to miss an extra point on 22 attempts.

Fox15GTI, John, and Cory: Tommy Martin, P
The second walk-on specialist to make the list, Tommy Martin now has the punting duties. It wasn’t his best day on Saturday, but Martin averaged 38 yards per punt on nine punts. Two of those punts were killed inside the Clemson 20-yard-line.
