Nebraska’s Tight Ends Coach Unexpectedly Steps Down

by Larry Riggs

A Sudden Change in Nebraska’s Staff

In an unexpected twist, Nebraska’s tight ends coach Bob Wager has stepped down from his position. The announcement was made by the program on Friday, with immediate effect.

Expressing deep regret, Wager stated that he was stepping down from his role as assistant football coach at the University of Nebraska following a recent citation for a driving offense. The resignation comes as a sincere apology for any negativity that this mishap may have caused – be it to his family, to his team, their staff or any others that his poor decision may have disappointed.

A Well-Timed Opportunity

Wager, prior to this, served on Matt Rhule’s staff at Arlington Martin High School, a short distance from Dallas. He was expected to be instrumental in the staff’s recruitment efforts in Texas, while being a major contributor towards rejuvenating Nebraska’s offense on the field.

In light of Wager’s resignation, the team has promoted Josh Martin to the role of tight ends coach. An experienced coach, Martin had joined the staff earlier this year functioning as a special teams analyst. His professional coaching experience includes reputed responsibilities towards tight ends at SMU and Arizona State.
