Is Michigan Football Making a Comeback in Recruiting?

by Larry Riggs
2023 could be the year of the Wolverine. The roster for the Michigan Wolverines just keep getting hotter.

After winning back-to-back Big Ten titles, the Michigan football team is looking to have elite recruiting success. While NIL has held them back, the tides seem to be turning.

The Wolverines are hoping to bounce back after a disappointing recruiting class last year that finished 18th in the country, which is not good enough for a team looking to compete for National Championships. However, with momentum building for the 2024 class, things are looking up for the Wolverines.

NIL has been a roadblock for Michigan, but things are slowly progressing. It appears that a base salary for all players and an exclusive deal with a large agency will be coming “soon”. With the dead period over, March is going to be a massive month for recruiting around the nation.

Many recruits like to lock in a commitment in the Spring/early Summer months, and it appears that may benefit the Wolverines in a BIG way. Michigan football is hosting many elite prospects over the next couple of weeks, and it seems almost certain that some will lock in a commitment with Jim Harbaugh and Co.

Jadyn Davis is a 5-star quarterback who could be the most influential recruit to commit. Quarterbacks are notorious for being the building blocks of elite recruiting classes, and Davis is one of the best in the country. The Wolverines need to close the deal on Davis when he visits in March.

While it’s frustrating that Davis has not yet made a decision, it’s important to remember that he is still a high school junior. The Wolverines got burned last year for putting all their eggs into the basket of Dante Moore, so it’s crucial that they close on Davis.

It seems extremely likely that the Wolverines will end up with Davis when it’s all said and done. He doesn’t have any other great contenders for his services, and the Wolverines must capitalize on this opportunity.

If Davis commits to Michigan, it will have positive implications, including attracting other elite recruits and building a bright future at the quarterback position.

Overall, Michigan football is on the right track to elite recruiting success. The Wolverines need to continue to capitalize on momentum, and it starts with closing the deal on Jadyn Davis.
