Michigan Wolverines Crave National Championship in 2023
The Michigan Wolverines football team has reached the pinnacle of the sport over the past two seasons, but their ultimate goal of winning a national title still eludes them. Head coach Jim Harbaugh has his team locked in on this goal for the 2023 season.
Harbaugh made the mentality of this year’s team clear at the Pep Rally preceding the Spring Game: “You never stay the same. You’re either getting better or you’re getting worse. No team that we play on our schedule is going to be the same that they were last year. This is not the time to regroup or to rest or to take a step back. Now is the time to attack.”
The “best version” of the team is at the forefront of their minds. Left guard Trevor Keegan agreed with Harbaugh’s assertions, emphasizing the team’s collective desire to finish the story they’ve written the past two seasons.
“After last year and the year before in the semifinal games, those losses dwelled on us and I think it’s a culmination of everyone on the team and the staff — there’s just one goal in mind, and it’s to win a national championship. I think we’re at a really good trajectory right now.”
It’s evident the Wolverines aren’t caught up in the glamor of being a contender anymore. They’re hungry for the championship.
So hungry, in fact, that making the CFB Playoff in 2023 isn’t enough. This team is hellbent on winning the national championship. They want to keep the ground they have and take some more.
It’s clear Harbaugh has his team focused and hungry for greatness. With the talent they have, the Wolverines could make 2023 their year.
