Meet Ibrahim Barry: Sussex County Community College Wide Receiver

We met up with Ibrahim Barry to discuss he transfer from James Madison to a JUCO football. He is a former 3-star wide receiver according to 24/7sports. Last week, he had a touchdown and 80 receiving yards against Monclair State

1. What was the reason you went from JMU to JUCO? If you could give advice to someone who was in the similar situation, what would you tell them?

JMU was a blessing, I thank God for the people I met and everyone that helped me get to that point of my life. Honesty I wasn’t ready mentally and was depressed and had a lot of weight on my shoulders and high expectations coming out of high school that I couldn’t live up at that point of my life. It was a minor setback for sure. I’m currently at Sussex Community College chasing to be the number 1 WR out of the portal this Dec-Jan opening. Advice I would give someone that was in my shoe is to seek help…it’s okay to ask for help you don’t have to go through it alone. The lonely nights don’t last forever and there’s light at the end of the tunnel.

2. Going to FBS to JUCO, what are some of the biggest changes you have seen in the game?

My first game was last Saturday, but I’ve played in the scrimmage and been working working. My team at practice likes what I have done so far. Obviously the competition and talent isn’t the same at an FBS school but there’s definitely a lot of athletes that are coming the FBS schools, so we push our team to play up to an high standard and it pushes me to be a leader.

3. What are some daily things you do to get better each and every day?

I have been watching serious film. always been a film guy want to be a student of the game and learn more watching defenses.. and off the field I been really talking to God more honesty.

4. If you had to compare your style to a NFL/college player, who would be the closest to your style?

Megatron and Ceedee.. I’m a tall WR and I DOMINATE the 50/50 ball.

5. Favorite football memory?

Winning my youth league championship game which made me want to keep playing football.. chasing my FBS CHAMPIONSHIP GAME THESE NEXT 4 years.

6. What is one thing coaches should know about you?

I’m one of those players that make something out of nothing. I also see my self as a defensive player playing WR. I have a big bag and can also play corner at the next level too.

7. Obviously the NFL is the ultimate goal, besides that, what do you want to do post-college career?

I honestly really believe in my God given ability and know the league is a high possibility if i do the right things on and off the field but I’m trying to to be a therapist.

8. What is a fact about you that most do not know about you?

I’m west African and can speak french
