Recently extended New York Jets wide receiver Braxton Berrios likes what he’s seen from his young quarterback so far.

Berrios recently said that Zach Wilson has “aged so much,” physically and mentally since last season. What should we expect to see from the year two starter?

Wilson, who turns 23 in August, heads into his second season after a very underwhelming rookie season. Out of BYU, Wilson played and started 13 games in 2021, passing for 2,334 yards with nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions. The Jets were 3-10 with Wilson behind center last season.

With the support of players in the locker room, the Jets have made a lot of changes heading into the 2022 season. Head coach Robert Saleh is as sharp as coach as they come. Entering his second season, the 43-year-old Saleh looks to bring the Jets back to prominence by surrounding Wilson with young and hungry weapons.

Berrios signed a two-year extension on March 9. The team has also added wide receiver Jeff Smith and tight ends C.J. Uzomah and Tyler Conklin.

New York used the 2022 NFL Draft to address the skill positions as well. The Jets selected wide receiver Garrett Wilson, tight end Jeremy Ruckert and running back Breece Hall. With the hopes of better protecting their young quarterback, the Jets also added offensive line depth in the draft and free agency.

Although they narrowly missed on in the Tyreek Hill sweepstakes, the Jets stand to be one of the NFL’s most improved teams in 2022. New York finished 4-13 and last in the AFC East last season. The Jets have had just one winning season (2015) in the last 11 years.
