Iowa football is looking to add more local talent to their roster, offering a spot to Reece Vander Zee. Vander Zee is a three-star recruit and a standout wide receiver from Central Lyon High School in Iowa. At 6-foot-5 and 190 pounds, Vander Zee is a dominant presence on the field, earning a first-team All-State recognition last season. He caught 32 passes for 768 yards, made 10 touchdowns, and boasted an impressive 24 yards per catch average.

Vander Zee’s defensive efforts were just as impressive, with four interceptions and 22 tackles obtained as a cornerback during the last season. During his junior year, Vander Zee and his team managed to go undefeated, snagging the school’s fourth state championship title with a 10-6 win over Williamsburg.

Apart from the Hawkeyes, Vander Zee has received offers from Yale, Air Force, and Western Michigan, among others. However, Iowa football is undoubtedly an attractive choice, ranked as one of the top teams by various sports publications. As of now, the Hawkeyes have the fourteenth-best class in the nation, according to 247Sports.

So far, the Hawkeyes have received commitments from a few other players, including Cody Fox, Derek Weisskopf, Cam Buffington, James Resar, Preston Ries, and Josh Janowski. While they are still hoping to add more players to their roster, Vander Zee could be exactly the addition they need. If he decides to sign on with the Hawkeyes, Vander Zee will get to showcase his talents close to home and have the chance to make a significant impact on the field.
