As the Georgia Bulldogs inch closer to the possibility of securing a third consecutive College Football Playoff title, Head Coach Kirby Smart decided it was time to make a decision on who will lead the Bulldogs. On Saturday, Smart confirmed the Bulldogs’ starting quarterback for the upcoming season would be Carson Beck.
Smart’s choice did not come on a whim. After thorough evaluation and observation during the offseason, Smart is confident that Beck has pushed himself to the front, clearly outpacing the other quarterback contenders in the team. With Stetson Bennett’s departure to the NFL and the Los Angeles Rams, a void was left to be filled on the team, and Beck has earned that spot.
Recognizing the crucial role that quarterbacks play in leading a team, Smart noted that Beck’s natural, unflappable presence will aid in guiding the Bulldogs. “Carson is a very even-keeled individual,” stated Smart.
