Projecting a future in Oregon, high-profiled Texan Justin Williams initially had his sights focused on the Ducks. The Five-Star linebacker from Conroe, Tex. thought after his June visit that he would be a Duck.

A trip to Georgia, however, altered the course. The Bulldogs won him over, leading to a commitment on Monday; Georgia had emerged victorious over Oregon in the pursuit of his talent.

Georgia’s proven path to the league, despite the hurdles and intense competition, seemingly struck a chord with Williams. He is eager to take on the challenge, relishing the tough but rewarding opportunity ahead.

Beyond the lure of the Bulldogs, the prospect of playing alongside current teammate Joseph Jonah-Ajonye, who committed to Georgia earlier in July, seemed to serve as another key draw. The bond on and off the field apparently proved enticing enough to seal the deal. Georgia’s recent success surely helped with his decision.

Since his initial visit to Georgia in May, Williams has spent a considerable amount of time with the coaching staff, particularly Glenn Schumann. Between the interpersonal, soft skills Schumann has, and the football mind he possesses, that sort of relationship is a critical one for a top recruit’s commitment. The amount of players Schumann has sent to the NFL really speaks for itself for why any top linebacker may want to be a Georgia Bulldog.
