Confidence.
That word is defined as “the feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something.”
Over the last couple of weeks, Florida State head coach Mike Norvell has exemplified this sense.
“This is a team that has a foundation that, I believe, is set,” Norvell recently told reporters. “Now, it’s time to go take those steps. The expectation — no, it’s not different; you always want someone being their best. But now I think we have a firm foundation to be able to build upon as we’re moving forward.”
This Seminoles return 16 offensive and defensive starters. FSU was also busy again with the transfer portal with 11 key acquisitions such as Oregon running back Trey Benson, Charlotte guard D’Mitri Emmanuel, Wisconsin center Kayden Lyles, South Carolina tackle Jazston Turnetine, Lamar tackle Bless Harris, Oregon wide receiver Mycah Pittman, Arizona State wide receiver Johnny Wilson, West Virginia wide receiver Winston Wright Jr., Illinois wide receiver transfer Deuce Spann, Albany defensive end Jared Verse and UCF linebacker Tatum Bethune.
Traditionally, expectations have been high for Florida State. The last four seasons, however, have been utter disappointments. FSU has finished with a losing record in each and is a combined 26-33.
This season feels different compared to others. Given its proud football history and tradition of excellence, the standard at FSU will always been high.
For Norvell to continue to be the guy to try to achieve that standard, a better 2022 is a must.
