Florida State announced that it will begin its spring practice on Monday, March 6th. Recently, we at FifthQuarter released our tight end spring practice preview for the Seminoles. We continue the position previews by highlighting the offensive line position room today.
ATKINS IS HERE TO STAY
Various media outlets requested public records request for Florida State assistant coach contracts. A notable development is that beloved Florida State offensive coordinator/offensive coordinator Alex Atkins has been extended through 2026. Under Atkins’ guidance, the Seminoles’ offensive line has vastly improved each season specifically in 2022 as quarterback Jordan Travis exceeded expectations en route to Florida State’s first 10-win season since 2016.
RETURNING PIECES
While the Seminoles will be losing veterans pieces such as guard Dillan Gibbons and tackle Jazston Turnetine, Florida State still has talented players returning to the team in 2023 such as starting offensive linemen D’Mitri Emmanuel (pending a waiver), Maurice Smith, Bless Harris (was a starter at right tackle before he got hurt), and Robert Scott Jr. They are also bringing back quality reserves who have in-game experiences such as Darius Washington and Julian Armella. But the Seminoles weren’t done there as they added two talented 2023 prospects in four-star Lucas Simmons and three-star Andre Otto as well as three experienced transfers in Casey Roddick, Keiondre Jones, and Jeremiah Byers.
