In the first meeting between the schools in more than three decades, Florida State (1-0) will square off with SEC foe LSU on Sunday night in New Orleans. FSU enters the game coming off of an impressive 47-7 win over Duquesne back last Saturday.
In that contest, the Seminoles rushed for 406 yards with Treshaun Ward leading the rushing attack with 127 yards on 14 carries and two touchdowns. Trey Benson recorded 105 yards on 11 carries with a touchdown. Lawrance Toafili added 101 yards rushing on 13 carries with a touchdown.
The Noles recorded a total of six touchdowns on the ground with Rodney Hill and Jordan Travis also each finding the end zone.
Travis, the FSU quarterback, had a good game through the air as well. He went 11 of 15 passing with 207 yards, averaging 13.8 yards per pass attempt. Travis finished the game with a QBR of 84.7.
Kentron Poitier and Mycah Pittman each had four catches. Poitier led FSU with 84 yards; Pittman had 44 yards. Johnny Wilson had one catch for 51 yards.
Although the Noles looked good last week, they will be seeking their first win over a non-ACC Power 5 opponent since defeating Florida 38-22 in 2017.
LSU’s new man in charge, Brian Kelly, has had a winning recipe against FSU. At Notre Dame, Kelly coached the Fighting Irish to wins over FSU in 2018, 2020 and 2021.
According to reports, Kelly won’t name a starting quarterback until right before kickoff.
Currently, LSU is a three-point favorite over FSU.
Game Prediction: FSU 27, LSU 24
