Florida State secured the commitment of class of 2023 four-star offensive lineman Roderick Kearney on Sunday.

Kearney is listed as the 128th-best prospect in the recruiting cycle, according to 247Sports Composite. The Orange Park, Fla. native has been on Florida State’s radar for quite some time. Kearney is being recruited as an interior offensive lineman.

The Seminoles were one of the first schools to offer him on April 20, 2021. The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Kearney has been sensational at camp events. He was named MVP for offensive linemen at the Under Armour All-America Camp in Miami back in February.

The interest was mutual as Kearney visited the FSU campus five times before making his decision. Perhaps his most notable visit came on June 20. During the unofficial visit, Kearney was seen with other offensive linemen on the roster such as freshmen Qaeshon Sapp and Julian Armella.

Things started to take a positive turn for the Seminoles. The four-star offensive line prospect was slated to be officially visiting Florida this past weekend.

While on his official visit with the Gators, Kearney put the following on his Instagram story (@77_pancakez): “Everything glitter ain’t Gold!!”

To make matters worse for Florida, Kearney’s commitment came shortly after leaving Gainesville. The national media has criticized Florida’s recruiting efforts in recent weeks. This is certainly a major blow as the Gators look to get on track under first-year head coach Billy Napier.

As for FSU, this is a massive recruiting victory for this coaching staff as it looks to build momentum from this past official visitor weekend. Kearney becomes the highest-ranked member of FSU’s 2023 class. The Seminoles hope this is just the beginning of some positive momentum on the recruiting trail.
