The 128 Team Playoff, Day 70: Oklahoma vs. UAB

We’ve created a 130-team bracket using ESPN’s FPI as our ranking system.

“But, anyone can create a bracket, how will the games be simulated?” Great question; NCAA Game Sim was used.

For each game on the bracket, the matchup was simulated once and every day a write-up will be done.

For the matchup, player statistics will be simulated and included in the write-ups.

Finally, thanks to the NCAA Game Sim premium membership, we’ll show the results of doing 100 simulations all at once. This is to see if a given result was more towards the expected side or if a given result was more towards the upset or luckier side.

All of the results have been simulated and tabulated, so at the time of writing the introduction, the results are already in.

This is designed to be fun, so please enjoy.

From Georgia to Massachusetts, here’s the 130-team bracket:

Match 71

(1) Oklahoma vs. (8) UAB

How Oklahoma Got Here: 52-7 win over (16) New Mexico

How UAB Got Here: 20-10 win over (9) South Carolina

This was a pretty strong showing from UAB.

Quarterback Dylan Hopkins was 16-for-21 passing with 194 yards and a couple touchdowns.

Running back Jermaine Brown Jr. had 117 rushing yards on just 12 carries.

Unfortunately for the Blazers, Oklahoma was able to really turn it on offensively.

Quarterback Caleb Williams was 23-for-29 with 349 yards and three touchdowns.

Running back Kennedy Brooks had 130 rushing yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.

Even though UAB was able to keep up in the first half and remained competitive throughout, Oklahoma just had too much firepower. The Sooners win, 38-20.

In 100 simulations, Oklahoma won 80 by an average margin of 33.2-18.8.

Winner’s Next Matchup: Winner of (4) Kentucky vs. (5) Houston

Tomorrow’s Matchup: (1) Notre Dame vs. (9) Marshall
