Former Arkansas Quarterback Ryan Mallett Tragically Drowns at Florida Beach at Only 35 Years Old

Tragic news hit the sports world as former Arkansas quarterback, Ryan Mallett, was reported to have drowned at a beach in Florida. This came to everyone’s shock as Mallett was only 35 years old.

Mallett was known for his time spent in the Arkansas Razorbacks football program from 2008-2010. His on-field performance and leadership skills were quite evident during his tenure.

Following his playing career, Mallett transitioned into coaching. He took on the role of an assistant coach at White Hall High School in Arkansas in 2020. His dedication and understanding of the game led to his recent promotion to the head football coach, a position that showcased his love for football and for leading the next generation of players.

Mallett also had a taste of the big leagues. He played in the NFL from 2011 to 2017. He had the opportunity to throw passes for the New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens, and the Houston Texans.

Initially, Mallett started his college football journey with a scholarship from The University of Michigan. However, he transferred to the University of Arkansas for the 2008 season, though he had to wait out a year due to eligibility rules.

The 2010 season was a standout year for Mallett in collegiate football. His prowess on the gridiron was exemplified by impressive stats: throwing for nearly 4,000 yards, amassing 32 touchdowns and being named 2nd-team All-SEC. This remarkable season cemented Mallett’s legacy in Arkansas football history.

Mallett’s untimely death is indeed a loss not only to his family and friends, but also to the football community that admired his talent and dedication.
