After losing a handful of the secondary, Sam Pittman and the Arkansas Razorbacks just picked up a pair of Baylor Bear defenders through the transfer portal. Teammates Lorando “Snaxx” Johnson and Alfahiym Walcott committed to the Razorbacks last week. They are the first two players to commit to Arkansas’ new co-defensive coordinators Travis Williams and Marcus Woodson. Johnson has 3 years of eligibility remaining, while this is Walcott’s final year. This duo was much needed for the Razorbacks, who must replace Latavious Brini, Simeon Blair, Khari Jackson, Jalen Catalon, and Myles Slusher on the defense.
Snaxx Johnson – Cornerback
Lorando “Snaxx” Johnson, 6’0 and 193lbs, was the first transfer to commit to Arkansas in the new year. After flipping his commitment from LSU, he joined the Baylor Bears in 2020. He started in 12 games at cornerback this season, recording 16 tackles, 5 pass breakups, and a forced fumble. Coming out of Lancaster High School in Lancaster, Texas, Johnson was a 4-star recruit with offers from LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, Ohio State, Texas A&M, and others.
Alfahiym Walcott – Safety
Alfahiym Walcott, 6’2 and 219 lbs, joined his Baylor teammate by committing to the Razorbacks last weekend. Walcott brings much-needed experience and size to the Razorback’s secondary. Playing in all 13 games for the Bears this past season, he recorded 82 tackles, 10 for loss, 2 sacks, 3 forced fumbles, and 4 pass breakups. He also recorded one defensive touchdown in 2021, a pick-six for 96 yards in the Sugar Bowl against Ole Miss. Prior to Baylor, Walcott played football at Butler Community College until 2020. Hailing from Wilmington, North Carolina, he was a 3-star prospect at the cornerback position at Emsley A Laney High School. He chose Arkansas after a visit to Texas A&M and even canceled his next visit to Florida.
The Razorbacks’ new defensive coordinators have made an impact early in landing these two defenders. Joining Johnson and Walcott from the portal so far will be QB Jacolby Criswell (UNC), WR Andrew Armstrong (TAMCU), OL Joshua Braun (UF), EDGE John L. Morgan III (Pitt), and LB Antonio Grier (USF).
