Fifth Quarter brings good news to the fans of FSU football who have been on tenterhooks recently. Four-star recruit DD Holmes has committed to the Noles. Holmes is the first defensive end to join the Noles’ 2024 recruitment cycle. The news was officially announced by the young DE, who chose FSU over the Maryland Terrapins, his home team.

Holmes was recruited to address one of the most pressing issues in the Noles’ lineup. His official on-site visit took place on June 23. Notable contribution also goes to FSU’s own, Defensive End Jared Verse. Holmes was accompanied by Verse all throughout his visit, much like Jermaine Johnson in his recruiting journey.

Holmes, who stands tall at 6’6″ and weighs 250 pounds, is all set regarding size. However, to match his size with power, he would need to become stronger through a college strength and conditioning program.

At a time when FSU’s influence in the DMV region has been on the wane, Holmes’ commitment is a welcome a change. John Papuchis, defensive ends coach, has been instrumental in bridging this geographical gap, his local ties making a significant difference.

Under the reign of former head coach Jimbo Fisher, FSU marked a strong presence in the DMV region. Papuchis not only helped to revisit FSU’s reach in the DMV area but was also pivotal in including four-star Elijah Moore in FSU’s scheme of things.

Wondering about the impact of Holmes’ recruitment? Fifth Quarter believes that Holmes will alter the game for FSU, both on-field and off-field by enhancing its reach and recognition.
