North Carolina is adding another big piece to their 2024 recruiting class. 3-star offensive tackle Luke Masterson from Brentwood, Tennessee committed to the Tar Heels over a number of other offers, including Colorado, Missouri and Ole Miss. Masterson is a 6-foot-6, 275-pound recruit that according to On3 Industry Ranking is the No. 776 overall prospect and No. 56 offensive tackle in the cycle. He is also the No. 27 player from Tennessee.
Masterson is rated higher by On3 than other recruiting services, ranking as the No. 52 offensive tackle in the country on the Industry Comparison. With his commitment, he joins Germantown (Tenn.) EDGE Daniel Anderson, who committed to North Carolina earlier this week, as the two most recent additions to head coach Mack Brown’s 2024 recruiting class.
Masterson is the seventh member of the Tar Heels’ 2024 recruiting class, which includes Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Prep four-star running back Davion Gause, Ball Ground (Ga.) Creekview three-star offensive tackle Andrew Rosinski, Arden (N.C.) Christ School three-star athlete Khalil Conley, Eatonton (Ga.) Gatewood School three-star linebacker Evan Bennett and Clemmons (N.C.) West Forsyth three-star interior offensive lineman Desmond Jackson.
North Carolina has been busy on the recruiting trail, and their 2024 class is shaping up to be a strong one. With the additions of Masterson and Anderson, the Tar Heels are adding talent at both the offensive and defensive lines. Head coach Mack Brown and his staff are making a concerted effort to beef up the trenches, and that effort is paying off on the recruiting trail.
It remains to be seen how Masterson and the rest of North Carolina’s 2024 class will develop, but with the level of talent they are bringing in, there’s reason to be optimistic in Chapel Hill. Brown has shown he has a knack for developing talent during his tenure at North Carolina, and it will be exciting to see what he can do with this group of young prospects.
