FSU Receives 42 Votes in AP Poll

by Fearing The Spear

Despite a solid win over LSU on Sunday night, Florida State, at 2-0, remains on the outside looking in when it comes to the polls.

This shouldn’t come as a shock. FSU’s resume consists of a 47-7 win over FCS Duquesne and a 24-23 victory over an LSU team that finished 6-7 last season and overhauled its coaching staff. It’s worth noting that FSU almost handed the game to the Tigers on a silver platter Sunday night.

The Seminoles received 42 votes in the AP Poll on Tuesday. That was the fifth highest among unranked teams.

Among the unranked, FSU is currently behind Oregon (131 votes), Penn State (122 votes), Texas (118 votes) and Cincinnati (63 votes).

Florida State likely won’t receive much, if any, votes next week. The Seminoles have a scheduled week off. They open their ACC schedule at Louisville on Sept. 16.

If the ‘Noles can manage to defeat Louisville and knock off Boston College on Sept. 24, they should be ranked before squaring off with Wake Forest. Currently ranked 23rd, the Demon Deacons received good news that quarterback Sam Hartman was cleared to return this week against Vanderbilt.
