Florida State offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Alex Atkins got himself another elite caliber offensive lineman prospect on Monday afternoon.

2023 four-star offensive tackle Lucas Simmons became the third top-120 prospect to commit to the Seminoles in just over two weeks. Standing at 6-foot-7 and 300 pounds, the native of Sweden has the potential to become a multi-year starter at the Power 5 level. Having Simmons at tackle and four-star Roderick Kearney on the interior could be a scary sight for opposing defenses for years to come.

The Seminoles are now ranked 34th in the 247Sports Composite rankings. Overall, the acquisition of Simmons allows Atkins to be more selective when acquiring talent on the offensive line.

He will likely add two more offensive linemen to the fold. Four-star offensive tackle DJ Chester seems like the top target on FSU’s board at the moment. The McDonough (Ga.) native has visited Florida State twice this month. He could return for the Seminoles’ big recruiting event on July 30.

Atkins has already acquired 10 offensive line recruits/transfers this offseason. Now, he has gotten two elite offensive line prospects for the 2023 cycle to commit to the program.

Who else will be joining forces with Atkins? We’ll find out as the cycle rolls along.
