Ward unofficially visited the Seminoles during their Junior Day on March 12. A few days later, on March 15, FSU decided to offer the linebacker prospect. Ward holds offers from schools such as Louisville, UCF, Western Kentucky, Memphis, Wake Forest, South Florida and Arkansas State, among others.
As a junior, he tallied 78 total tackles, three sacks and an interception in helping Duluth High School reach Georgiaβs 7A playoffs.
With the commitment of Ward, the Seminoles will likely need to acquire another linebacker prospect in this cycle. However, the attainable options are fairly limited. Four-star Blake Nichelson was given a crystal ball prediction to Oregon after officially visiting the Ducks this past weekend.
Florida State will need to expand its recruiting board at the position in the coming weeks. Ward becomes the ninth commitment of the 2023 cycle for FSU and the lone linebacker.
Overall, this was a solid pickup for Randy Shannon and company as they hope to continue to acquire talent at linebacker. With the addition, FSU moves from 49th to 43rd in the Composite team rankings.
