Aaron Rodgers faces another setback this season as the NFL handed down a fine of $11,255 for a late hit during a recent game against the Buffalo Bills. This marks a particularly difficult stretch for the Jets quarterback amidst a challenging season.
The contentious play occurred in the third quarter following an interception thrown by Rodgers. As Bills cornerback Christian Benford returned the interception, he ran out of bounds, and Rodgers made contact after the play concluded. This resulted in an unnecessary roughness penalty, which is notable as it represents the first such infraction in Rodgers’ extensive career.
In addition to Rodgers, Jets defensive end Micheal Clemons also received a fine of $6,533 for unnecessary roughness during the same game. Clemons was penalized for jumping onto a pile late, reflecting the frustrations of the Jets as they continue to struggle this season.
The Jets have been active off the field as well. They recently placed cornerback Sauce Gardner on injured reserve, ending his season due to a hamstring injury. Gardner had already been ruled out of the upcoming game against the Miami Dolphins.
In response to these developments, the Jets made several roster moves. They signed defensive lineman Bruce Hector to the active roster and elevated cornerback Tre Swilling along with offensive lineman Zack Bailey.
The situation continues to evolve for the Jets, alongside the ongoing difficulties faced by Rodgers and the team as a whole.
