Sleeper Team to Watch for in the #ACC
• SMU
● I know Miami is the laughing stock of the #ACC to many opposing fans. The debacle vs Georgia Tech last year was embarrassing and the Canes have NEVER won the Conference since joining. If you’re going to make the #CFP you have to avoid boneheaded coaching mistakes and start beating teams that you’re legit better than. With Cam Ward coming in at QB, Damien Martinez at RB, Tyler Baron at DE, Simeon Barrow at DT, Sam Brown at WR, Dyoni Hill at CB, Elijah Alston at DE, Mishael Powell at Safety and Marley Cook at DL this transfer class is loaded and it helps puts the canes over the edge in my opinion. DE Reuben Bain is one of the top young pass rushers in CFB and Francis Mauigoa will be a star at Tackle. It also helps to have one of the top kickers in football in Borregales.
● I believe NC State will be really good this season and make the #ACC Championship Game. If the Wolfpack can beat Tennessee in Non Conference and make it to the ACC Championship with just 1 loss it’s a good opportunity they can make the #CFP even with a loss.
● Virginia Tech is a sleeper team to make the #CFP in my opinion. The Hokies return almost all of their production from last season. They get star WR Ali Jennings III back from injury and added DT Kemari Copeland from JUCO, DT Aeneas Peebles from Duke and LB Sam Brumfield from MTSU. Oh yeah, and QB Kyron Drones is a star in the making.
● Dabo refusing to successfully use the Transfer Portal is going to cost the Tigers a lot going forward. It’s totally possible Clemson can make the CFP this season because the team is filled with talent and the D-Line will be dominant but you’ll see Week 1 how much better UGA is because the Dawgs recruit better and use the portal. In ACC play Clemson has tough games at VT, at FSU, vs Louisville and vs NC State.
● I have Florida State going 10-2 (6-2) with losses to Clemson and at Miami. I believe both of those games are toss ups and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Noles are 11-1 and in the #ACC Championship game. If the Noles had landed Cam Ward at QB over DJU I’d be picking them over Miami.
● SMU has a very favorable schedule and I wouldn’t be surprised if this team goes 10-2.
● The schedule is in favor for the Tar Heels with their toughest #ACC games being at FSU and vs NCSU. UNC has some talented star players like RB Omarion Hampton, TE Bryson Nesbit, DE Kaimon Rucker and LB Power Echols.
● I’ll be honest I have Louisville going 7-5 (5-3) but if Tyler Shough can stay healthy all season this team could win 9-10 games. The Cards return DE Ashton Gillotte and CB Quincy Riley who are elite players.
● I have Georgia Tech going 5-7 (3-5) and just because I only have them winning 5 games doesn’t mean I think this is a bad team. The Yellowjackets actually have a good team but the schedule is TOUGH!!!
● I see UVA improving in 2024 led by a star D-Line unit and making a Bowl Game.
● Cal has a tougher schedule in #ACC play but RB Jaydn Ott will be in line for a massive season and help lead the Bears to a bowl game.
● I LOVE the hire of Fran Brown and I believe he leads the cuse to a 7-5 record in 2024. If Kyle McCord can play better than I’m expecting this Orange squad could win 8-9 games.
● Pitt loses a lot on Defense and it’s basically a rebuild underway besides star Safety Donovan McMillan coming back. On Offense it’s unknowns at QB but I do like the RB/WR corps.
● Boston College won’t be a team you can sleep on but the schedule does them no favors.
● I’m actually mad at myself for having WF, Duke and Stanford finishing this bad because they’re not that bad of teams but it’s just how the schedule and matchups fell for me.
